Photoshop Modification Steps

What is the goal of this project?

The goal of this project is to clear the background, rotate the icon, and make the colors stand out.
1.

We first used the crop tool to down scale the photo into a smaller size.

2.

After, we used the Magic Waud Tool, function to select the background.

3.

One of our big moves, were to go pixel by pixel making sure its all outlined correctly.

4.

We had to inverse the selected area to be able to work around it.

5.

After we have Inversed it, we copy the object into a different
layer to clean the background.

6.

After copying the object to a different layer, select the entire page to start the cleaning process

Rebuilding an Electric Car Battery Rack

Q: Whats is an Electric Car Battery Rack?

A: Okay, an electric car battery rack, is the place where the batteries are held in the car. Allow me to explain, this car was originally a gasoline fueled car. As you may know, in the back there was a spare tire well. it had enough space to place the batteries, so we removed it. We made the battery rack, than we placed it in the car.

Q: Whats all the white spots on the batteries ?

A: Okay, there was a leak of acid, from one battery. All the white spots that you can see is acid that has leaked. Because it was a large amount of acid, it also roosted and it removed the paint from the rack. We don't know how that happened in a chemical level.

Q: Whats the next step ?

A: Okay, next was to take out the three batteries, check them for and leakage. The batteries were dirty, Cleaning the batteries was in process.

Q: How did the rack look like ?

A: Okay, when we toke out the batteries, we observed that the rack was dirtier than what we saw. This was the point that we decided to rebuild/reinforce the rack

Q: What did we come up with ?

A: Okay, after brainstorming and thinking, we came up with the idea of building a metal floor for the rack. The metal floor will sustain any damage from the bottom of the batteries.

Repairing a Metal Chair

During this experience of fixing this chair I have learned and obtained many new skills.

1. What was wrong with the chair?

Credit: Photo Take by  Kelly Coca
Well, the chair was old and rusted, it had a ring that broke, so took the opportunity to gain experience with new tools and machines.

2. Well how are you going to cut out the legs of the chair?

Well we used a tool to cut of the welding spots where it held the legs.

3. We can see a lot of rust on the chair how did you get rid of that?

We used a machine that blasted glass, which cleans everything a metal has on the surface.

4. How are you going to hole the chair legs ?

Photo taken by Cruz Flores
After much thinking of a way we came up with an idea, we made 4 samples of a metal that will hold the legs from moving.

5. What's the next step ?

Well, we are not going to use cardboard to hold the legs, so of curse the next step was to make the cardboard patters out of metal.

6. Well how did you get those shinny pieces of metal ?

We Recycled rusted pieces of metal that were laying around the shop.

7. How did you get the think cote of rust from the metal and make it shinny?

You can say it was a long process, me and my classmate Kelly spend around 40 minutes sanding the pieces of metal.

After we made the samples, we found out that we need to weld a part of the chair.

So the welding stage begun

1.What type of welding are you using?

science industrial workers welding

We used a MIG welder, (Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), sometimes referred to by its sub types metal inert gas (MIG)welding or metal active gas (MAG) welding, is a welding process in which an electric arc forms between a consumable wire electrode and the work piece metal(s), which heats the work piece metal(s), causing them to melt, and join.)

2.How does a MIG welder work?

https://www.google.com/search
This Photo Explain how a MIG Welder works.

On what did you learn to weld?

We learned to weld on two pieces of metal on top of each other, which it is called a lap joint.

Well how did you do it ?

My teacher Mr.G thought us to do arcs.

How did it look when welding

It looked AMAZING!!!!

Did you have to cut another piece of metal when you had no more space?

No, we grinded the welding's to save time, you can check Kelly's blog, to learn about the grinder.

How did you start welding?

We started practicing with little dots.

How does welding help ?

Welding helps by bring together two pieces of metal, and combines it to be one, by connecting the sides.

This post is not yet done, we are still under progress of repairing the chair,
stay tuned for up dates

Here are my classmates blogs that helped me fix this chair:

Penny battery

1.What is a penny battery?

Okay, a penny battery is composed of copper and zinc with elector light in between, to produce electricity.

2.What components did you use?

We used
1. Pennies.
2. Zinc coded washers.
3. elector light (Soy Sauce, Vinegar).
4. cardboard or paper .

3. How does a penny battery work?

This schematics explains how the penny battery works.

4.What can the penny battery power up?

Penny batteries act like regular batteries but last's less, i made my own little fan to power up but penny batteries can even a phone if it gets enough voltage.

5. How did the fan held the penny battery?

So in the work shop, there was some left over cable holder, it was made from plastic, and it had a circular hole in the middle that fitted my pennies and the washers

6. How many pennies did it take to power up the fan?

So the fan needed at least 3 volts to power up, so i used up to 5-7 pennies to achieve that amount of voltage.

7. how did the cables held with the switch?

So to hold the cables with the switch, we had to solder the cables with the end of the switch

8. How strong was the cable after soldering it?

The cables held pretty strong, it was held so hard that a human pull couldn't take it apart.

9.how did the cables held to the battery holder?
I used hot glue to hold the cables to the battery holder, and made one cable go form the bottom and the other from the top so that it connects with no interference with the other cable.

10. how did the project look at the end?
